Why one resume for every job does not work
A posting is a list of what the employer will search for. If the job asks for stakeholder management and your resume says worked with different teams, a person may connect the two, but a keyword search will not. Tailoring means describing the same true experience in the language of the posting.
How the comparison works
- Paste the full job description, including the duties and the requirements.
- Upload your resume. It is read in your browser.
- Each important term from the posting is marked: shown in your experience, only in your skills, or not found.
- You confirm which missing terms are true for you. Terms you mark as untrue are never added to your resume.
Where to put the keywords
- Title: mirror the job title from the posting when it honestly describes you.
- Summary: the three or four most important requirements you can prove.
- Skills: up to 15 posting keywords your experience supports, the most important first.
- Bullets: the strongest place of all, because the keyword sits next to a real result.
Avoid stuffing. Repeating a keyword many times or hiding it in white text does not help; recruiters read the result, and it looks dishonest.
Tailor in minutes, not hours
After the comparison, ProofFit can rewrite your title, summary, skills and bullets for that posting. It uses only skills and results that appear in your resume, leaves a placeholder such as [X%] where a real figure belongs, and shows you every change so you can check it.

How many keywords should my resume match?
There is no magic number. Aim to prove every must-have requirement you truly meet, and show the most important ones in your bullets, not only in your skills list.
Will the tool add skills I do not have?
No. Keywords you mark as untrue are never used, and the rewrite is instructed to use only what your resume supports.
Can I tailor the same resume for several jobs?
Yes. Each posting is one application. You can re-tailor the same posting without using another credit, within a fair-use limit.
